I hated Chutney music since Adesh Samaroo came into the game. Hindi & Chutney music should be kept traditional. I don't know what these people are doing. I only keep up to date with Chutney music just for the loops and instrumentals.

Seriously like chutney is a genre of its own, how are you going to bring the house/dance beats style into it, if they keep doing this then chuntey is dead, us djs just gotta stick to our old playlists, cuz im sure were not getting anything new(cuz i've been trying to update my chutney session but i cannooottttt play music that sounds like s h i t), maybe for a while, until someone gives big rich a nice wrong side cutlass across his face.

I guess it's the same reason why a lot of Hip Hop artist are doing house music, it's where the money is. But these Trinidadians need to understand it's not the same for Chutney music. House mixed with Chutney sound plain stupid. I do dig the House/Soca mixture though. Bend Over and Alright by Machel Montano was banging.

i beg to differ yo. bend over and machel was definitely good. but when it comes to taking house and mixin it with soca (island pop) i think its shit. and really, the only person promoting it a lot is kes. hes going crazy with that shit. i hate it. hate come play ah mas. all the techno soca songs. and all the artists are in on it too. i miss real soca. with iron and pan. soca stands for soul calypso. its there to make u groove and wine or make u jump up. not pump ur fists. if i wanted to listen to a techno song, id listen to a techno song. if i wanted techno and soca, id make a soca remix to a techno song. shouldn't be the other way around.

reggae, soca, chutney, hindi,...these are all genres of music with culture and a certain style. house and techno i believe has no culture. it didnt root from anywhere. somebody just took a shit, recorded it. and put a few synths.

Edit: and also, just for yall to keep in mind. just because a song has a snare on 4 and 3, and a kick on every 1, doesn't mean its a soca song.

chutney, which this thread relates to, is just what i said about soca, but to a whole other extent.

What the heck is Island Pop? Please don't tell me its a Soca version to Strobo Pop?! I agree with the culture part and FYI; House music originated from the Gay Clubs in San Fransisco in the 80's lol. But yea, you're right, it doesn't have any culture since House music is after all computerized.

This might sound racist but it's true and only an idiot would disagree

SocaChutney(a.k.a bigrich music): Schupid coolie(mostly trinidadian & shamrock) people tryna do something & other schupid coolie people rooting them on giving them motivation to keep on doing it.

Hit the nail on the head. As far as I see it - they're tryna make Chutney music more "mainstream" and fit for a wider audience. Wider audience -> more money, right?

Yup. But its Chutney music. What audience are they really trying to expand to? Are they expecting the Caucasians to Roll Up The Tassa?

Unless they revert back to their original style, chutney music has died. Plain and simple.
