New Years Eve Party - How do I make it better?

New Years is here. Which means its time to party. Problem is I would like to spice up the party, but don't know how.
What are some good ideas to help make my party good?
- liquors
- music
- setting ( enviornment, setting up tables, etc. etc.) -- This is the section I am more aiming for.

**Note its a family party**
I did a search online, but unfortunately all that comes up is college, white people party; fortunately I'm brown with dhal puri.
