sup guys.. so the title pretty much says it all... but here's the catch... i'm not trynna spend too much on it at all.. i'd liek to keep the price range around $500- $700 max.

my dad is gonna pay for half of it... and he insists i get a dell laptop... inspiron most likely..

so i just wanted to know what you guys think before i get anythin'... i know it wont be the best top of line to dj wit... but i just want sumthin' thatll work cuz itll just be used for djing... and also im not lyke a full time dj or anythin'... i dj here n there for fam and friends... but i wanna be able to do sumthin' decent when da times comes u kno...

    so yea.. any advice?

this is the current one im looking at... dual processor... decent space... RAM...price is in range...

well since im trynna keep everything under $700 i wasnt really gonna add anyhting besides the basic specs that it alrdy has... it looks like those specs shud b good enuff to handle da software... i heard sumthin' bout needing a better sound card tho.. i dunno how necessary that is

you dont think there worth it LOL!!

well since it was hell to fix a dell, how about when your mac breaks you take it to the apple store and you deal with people who speak american language and can fix it either the same day or within the week and free obviously if its under warranty and hasnt been abused.

hps are nice! but that glossy screen sucks i hate laptops with glossy screens
    matte FTW!!!

question to the op, what programs are you using when you say djing?
i wouldnt get a laptop if you wanna remix, thats the worst decision you can make.

i use my hp laptop and so far i have no regrets only i wish it came with a second ****in soundcard.
remember that wen ur buying ur laptop to have a second soundcard. i hate dells but i have seen a lot of dells with two soundcards. and also soundcards are available aftermarket but they usually suck in clarity.

macs r also very good just if you are not used to their operating system, u need to spend sum time getting used to it.
do not get a sony vaio, they suck.
i recommend macs hp toshiba and i guess u can try dell but personally i wouldnt.

i think u using the wrong cards man.
any usb sound card will have bad latency because of the laptop bus speed and because usb is fairly slow compared to firewire 400 or 800.

try buying a m audio 410 or one of the cheaper cards by m audio and presonus
youd be suprised how clean and better sounding they are then the garbage any computer manufacture provides.

oh shit i want that award winning support

    lol, for real.
any pc manufacturer's sound card is garbage.
also any multi-use soundcards such as creative, are garbage.

well right now i use traktor 3... i jus wanna be able to use a decent software to match da bpm n sync easy... i might even get vinyl to use wit it later on..

yea hp is another pretty common name dat wudnt be dat expensive... but whats the need for two soundcards exactly? i wud just use a program lyek traktor to mix da music and direct da output straight to da mixer keepin everythin' on one channel..

yea man... if i have some more money right now id be looking into a mac or xps..

well you wanna get atleast a dual core intel.

    look at 2.2ghz and up.
    id say 2.4ghz dual
    alteast 2 gigs of ram.

hd space is up to you, but 5400 rpm to 7200 rpm isnt that big of a deal unless your going to do real recordings.

my only issue with buying a pc laptop is your gonna get allot of laptops that are good deals but processor speed is gonna be under 2.2ghz and its not gonna be amazing for what you wanna do.

atop that they will have vista which blow the ****ing cock and uses up way to much processing power just to run itself.
when you could be using that power for your programs.

if your gonna use traktor and eventually wanna go live with it you better rethink your budget because if traktor craps out on your infront of a live crowd be ready to dodge bottles. when using a computer for anything live or processor intensive like remixing you want something reliable , just dont go with oh whats the cheapest i can get.
