Does the type of computer matter when beginning as a new dj on the scene, software hardware or other.

Certainly. Do NOT use any computer at all if you're a beginner. Learn to dj and mix by ear.

You should always learn to mix by ear first, but when you do get a computer, don't cheap out. Buy a quality device and get an external hard drive only for music. you should also get a back up external hard drive just in case and back it up.

first i got a macbook was too slow and liked windows better bought me a asus n56 looks exactly like a macbook and has a backlit keyboard but has better performance has an i7 rated at 3.40ghz 8 gb ram and nvidia 650m 2gb which can easily play games at high settings the laptop is only $500 it's an asus n56. this things has a really low cpu bar when running serato lower than a macbook and analyzes 8 tracks 4 more than a macbook. Never crashes on acid 7

    computer absolutely matter today
You need a macbook pro or a "workstation pc" i5 minimum or better 8gb ram or better
If you plan on doing videos i7 and 16gb ram min
macbook air and regular PCs wont cut it

yes it does matter. If you only want to be the occasional DJ, play for house parties, bars etc (and strictly DJing) start with a Windows Laptop. Realistic minimum is any with an Intel i5 chip, with 4 GB RAM (look to upgrade later to 8GB...ram is cheap nowadays). Internal hard drive min is between 250-320 GB and get an external HD (500 GB at least). OS=Windows 8.1 is faster and uses less memory than Windows 7 even though Win 7 is better in general. If you can afford the Macbook, get it, but i would concentrate on spending on a proper USB controller

yes i would suggest the macbook pro its reliable and doesn't slow down over time like pc's and the start up times for a mac is very fast to boot up if your system crashes or you forgot to plug in your charger.
