    Winamp all the way... been using it for years and love it!

    winamp for music
    VLC for videos

    VLC player works the best its lightweight and has a bunch of built in codec's and does well with digital audio output 5.1 and 7.1

    Winamp is really good for playing tar files (when you want to listen to a full album) I like Windoes Media Center for movies though
