Library Help With ITunes !

so i just got an external hdd and i decided to keep all my music on there instead of my computer, so i moved the whole itunes folder to the external, and deleted it from my computer. i knowingly deleted it knowing everything from my itunes library would disappear, and like i imagined, when i opened up itunes nothing was there. so now i want to load back in my itunes library file or xml file, the only thing is, when i tried to import the xml file, it started importing and duplicating everything (say i had 50 gbs of music, i left it alone when i came back the itunes folder was 100 gbs) but when i deleted everything from my itunes library (not the folder itself) the folder went back down to the original size (50gbs) so how do i make itunes NOT duplicate it and just read what is there? thanks for any advice !

 

your telling me no one read this? LMAO wow. anyways if anyones wondering how i fixed it, i just installed itunes on my new laptop, deleted the itunes folder on my new laptop, and then move over the OLD itunes folder. bam when i opened itunes everything was there.
